Our Journey and Mission
Heart of Gold – a family endeavour, has been dedicated to breeding Golden Retrievers since 1999 and Border Collies since 2016. Our mission is to enhance longevity, health, and temperament in our dogs, ensuring they excel in service and therapy roles. Partnering with organizations like Partner Dogs Canada, we strive to produce dogs that are not only companions but also skilled service animals. Based in East Gwillumbury, our family-run Good as Gold K9 School is renowned for its excellence in dog agility and obedience training. Our latest endeavour, the Border Retriever, merges the affectionate nature of Golden Retrievers with the intelligence and agility of Border Collies, creating ideal candidates for active individuals and people with high functioning disabilities alike. Creating the perfect pet or service dog for people with active lifestyles.

Foundation of Heart of Gold
Started breeding Champion Golden Retriever’s – with a focus on health and longevity. With the goal of breeding dog’s suitable for service and therapy work.

Introduction of Border Collies
Expanded our breeding program to include Border Collies, emphasizing agility and obedience.

Launch of the Border Retriever
Unveiled the Border Retriever, a hybrid designed for service work and active lifestyles. We plan to work together with other like minded breeders to develop and evolve this into a fully stable breed.
